About this position

The Clinic Director provides clinical leadership and operational oversight for a behavioral health clinic and its satellite locations. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and sustainable clinical services in alignment with OMH and OPWDD Article 16 and Article 31 regulations and best practices.

The Clinic Director sets and enforces clinical standards of care; supervises, supports, and evaluates clinical staff; and oversees clinic operations, documentation, billing coordination, and EHR integrity. The Director may maintain a limited clinical caseload to support continuity of care, onboarding, coverage gaps, or programmatic needs, with caseload expectations adjusted based on clinic capacity and staffing.

This role serves as a key liaison between clinical staff, administrative operations, and executive leadership and demonstrates strong alignment with the organization’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Supervision

  • Establish and maintain clinical standards consistent with regulatory requirements and evidence-based practices

  • Onboard, train, supervise, and evaluate clinicians, interns, consultants, and other clinical staff

  • Provide and document required clinical and regulatory supervision

  • Manage clinical coverage, productivity expectations, workloads, and continuity of care

  • Lead and participate in case conferences, utilization review (UR), and required clinical meetings

  • Collaborate closely with the Medical Director on clinical oversight and care coordination

Caseload Management

  • Maintain a limited clinical caseload as needed to:

    • Support client continuity during staff leave or separation

    • Assist with onboarding or transitioning new clinicians

    • Address urgent or programmatic coverage needs

  • Adjust caseload responsibilities based on staffing, census, and operational needs

EHR, Documentation & Billing Oversight

  • Serve as a clinical superuser/administrator within the EHR system

  • Guide clinicians on documentation standards, including:

    • Timely completion and locking of clinical notes

    • Accurate CPT code selection

    • Treatment plan development and signature compliance

    • Adherence to billing rules and documentation requirements

  • Monitor documentation compliance and address late or non-compliant records

  • Oversee clinic-related vouchers, invoices, and reporting in coordination with finance

  • Support Millin workflows and issue resolution with consultants and administrative staff

Operations & Administrative Oversight

  • Oversee daily clinic operations to ensure efficiency, compliance, and service quality

  • Supervise the Clinic Support Specialist, including intake coordination and EHR updates

  • Ensure accurate collection and maintenance of participant demographic and insurance information

  • Monitor service delivery, productivity, and outcomes to inform operational decisions

Grants, Programs & Compliance

  • Provide oversight to Crisis and Resource Programs, as assigned

  • Collaborate on grant writing, data collection, and reporting

  • Participate in required DOH, OMH, and OPWDD trainings, audits, and compliance activities

  • Maintain audit readiness and support quality improvement initiatives

  • Complete special projects as assigned by the Executive Director
