Detroit Recovery Project, Inc. (DRP) is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) that provides outpatient recovery support services for those with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. We treat the whole person through our integrated programs of primary medical and behavioral healthcare.

What we're looking for:
DRP is currently seeking a full-time Maternal Infant Health (MIH) Peer Navigator. The MIH Peer Navigator will provide peer support to pregnant and postpartum people who have been identified as having risk for substance misuse. This individual will also work with community partners to develop referral pathways to health system navigation, education, health advocacy, and linkage to relevant services, including social support services for pregnant individuals that need peer support. This role requires using a specialized set of knowledge, experience, training, and skills to encourage healthy attitudes and behaviors which prevent the use/misuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
Compensation Range: This position is supported through grant funding. As a result, compensation is determined by the grant budget and may fall within a designated pay rate or range set by that funding source. The starting pay range for this position is $20.43-$21.63 per hour and is based on non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience. This is an hourly non-exempt role that is eligible for overtime compensation.
The Ideal candidate will:
- Provide an individualized assessment of identified families eligible for Peer Navigator Pilot.
- Assist families by connecting them to community resources.
- With support of your supervisor, establish relationships to develop a referral pathway of pregnant women to the Agency.
- Provide families with a warm handoff to the home visiting service that best fits the needs of the family.
- Provide scheduled follow-up for families to identify any additional needed support.
- Assess for and provide facilitation of the completion of a plan of safe care on every identified family.
- Attend monthly Peer Navigator Group Mental Health Consultations.
- Participate in staff training and development. To attend monthly Peer Navigator Group Mental Health Consultation.
- Advocate on behalf of persons with behavioral health problems to protect the family's rights and to assist in reducing associated stigma.
- Be familiar with local community resources.
- Link individuals to identified services (housing, treatment, medical services, employment, etc.)
- Input data directly into iPad/tablet during services.
- Develop and maintain written documentation (assessments, service plans, progress notes, monthly reports, and other programmatic documentation).
- Have a great attitude and people skills; strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Have a flexible work schedule to include the occasional evening, holiday and weekend as needed.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Associate's degree in guidance and counseling, psychology, social work, vocational rehabilitation, business or public health administration or a related field is preferred.
- Certified Peer Recovery Coach (CPRC) and/or Certified Peer Recovery Mentor (CPRM) are preferred.
- Experience working with pregnant individuals, new parents, and/or infants in community or healthcare settings.
- Ability to build trusting relationships and work effectively with diverse populations, including families experiencing social, economic, or health-related challenges.
- Knowledge of basic maternal and infant health topics (prenatal care, postpartum recovery, infant feeding, safe sleep, developmental milestones, etc.).
- First Aid/CPR Certification preferred.
- Minimum of one year experience in providing direct services to individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
- A valid and unrestricted State of Michigan Driver's License, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Electronic Health/Medical Records Systems.
