Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Facility Custodian Supervisor performs responsible supervisory work involving the assignment and direct supervision of custodial employees in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of buildings, offices, classrooms, fitness centers, furnishings and equipment as well as building entrances and exterior walkways. The Facility Concierge is also responsible for training new employees in proper custodial procedures for the use of manually operated tools, electrically powered machines, cleaning compounds, solvents and chemicals. Must understand the guidelines of APPA level 2 an 3. Ensures that custodial personnel have the equipment and supplies necessary to perform custodial services by issuing supplies as needed, completing request form(s) for replacement items, and storing the supplies and equipment in a secure storage facility.
Qualifications
Experience: At least three years of experience in custodial services, one of which must have been supervisory, which includes knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment and supplies, is required. Two years of custodial supervisory experience is preferred. Additional education and experience beyond the minimum requirements may be substituted for either custodial or supervisory experience.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directly supervise a custodial team consisting of 1 Facility Concierge Lead and 6 Custodians.
- Skilled in team building, conflict resolution, and fostering inclusive work environments.
- Strong understanding of custodial standards, especially APPA Levels 2 and 3.
- Familiarity with health and fire codes, including applicable local department regulations.
- Assigns and schedules daily tasks, evaluates job performance, and ensures compliance with custodial standards and policies.
- Provides training, coaching, and disciplinary support as needed.
- Exercises independent judgment in staff management, including performance evaluations and recommendations for retention or advancement.
- Acts as a liaison between custodial staff and management to ensure alignment of operational goals and cleanliness standards.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities essential to Job Function
- High school education and or equivalent GED.
- Proficient in the safe and proper use of custodial equipment, tools, and chemicals.
- Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) and manage both routine tasks and high-pressure situations.
- Skilled in team building, conflict resolution, and fostering inclusive work environments.
- Strong understanding of custodial standards, especially APPA Levels 2 and 3.
- Familiarity with health and fire codes, including applicable local department regulations.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands
- Must be able to support a 24/7 operation, including on-call responsibilities, occasional evenings, early mornings, weekends, or holidays.
- Work is performed in both in the facility and around the exterior of the buildings, including bus lots and transit control centers.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs, bend, kneel, reach, and stand for extended periods.
