Technician - UUV (Uncrewed Underwater Vehicle)

About this position

SYOS an innovative robotics and aerospace company developing industry-leading uncrewed vehicles (drones) across air, land, and sea, is seeking an experienced subsea Technician to join and play a key role in the Subsea Vehicles team.  

In this important role, you’ll be expected to be involved in the creation of prototypes and making small scale batch runs for testing. The willingness to learn and assist all levels of team members in all areas of design, prototyping, and testing. 

 


Key Responsibilities 

  • Create and assemble electrical and optical cabling for subsea systems
  • Assemble subsea systems and components to engineering specifications
  • Prepare stock and materials for manufacture
  • Operate prototyping machinery and fabrication tools
  • Use testing equipment to verify system performance and quality
  • Pilot Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs) for testing and validation purposes

Skills and Experience 

  • Strong learning mindset and willingness to receive hands-on training
  • Competent soldering skills and ability to work with fine electronic components
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical drawings
  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality

Desirable (Nice to Have) 

  • CAD experience (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
  • Experience with subsea systems or marine technology
  • Prior work with electrical and optical cabling
