About this position
Expanded Functions Dental Assistant
You will be responsible for assisting the dentist during dental procedures, preparing the treatment rooms and instruments, taking x-rays, and updating patient records. You will also greet patients, schedule appointments, and perform tasks as directed.
Dental Assistant Responsibilities:
• Assist the dentist during dental procedures by handing them instruments and anticipating their needs.
• Prepare the treatment rooms and instruments before each appointment and sterilize them after each use.
• Take and process x-rays of patients as instructed by the dentist.
• Update and maintain patient dental records and health history.
• Greet patients and make them feel comfortable in the treatment room.
• Schedule patient appointments and confirm them as needed.
• Coordinate cases with dental labs.
• Perform supply inventory and order dental supplies and materials as needed.
• Maintain a clean and sterile working environment.
• Advise patients on recommended oral hygiene practices.
• Follow all OSHA, Radiology and Biowaste guidelines.
• Perform preventive maintenance on dental equipment.
Dental Assistant Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited dental assistant program (RDA, EFDA preferred)
• Current CPR and Radiology certification required.
• 1-2 years of experience as a dental assistant preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow policies and guidelines.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
