About this position

The Virginia Beach SPCA (VBSPCA) Low-Cost Veterinary Clinic is seeking a skilled veterinarian who is looking to make a difference in the lives of pets and owners in the Virginia Beach Community. In addition to serving public pet patients, the VBSPCA Low-Cost Veterinary Clinic provides medical care for the VBSPCA shelter animal population of dogs, cats, and small animals.

Routine Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality medical care to public patients and owners

  • Perform surgical procedures - mainly spay/neuters and general soft tissue procedures


Clinic Environment: 

The VBSPCA operates a fully-equipped facility for both general practice medicine and high-volume spay/neuter services as well as soft tissue, limited orthopedic, and dental surgery.. Our emphasis is on reducing pet population, providing preventative care, and full-service general medicine for the low-income community. Our mobile surgical unit travels to surrounding areas providing low-cost spay/neuter surgery and preventative care to underserved areas. We pride ourselves on our emphasis of a positive workplace culture, work/life balance, and satisfaction in our work with the clients and animals we serve. The VBSPCA has a team of seven veterinarians who work together to provide care for all the populations we serve.


Required Skills:

  • DVM or VMD Degree 

  • Solid skills in performing spay/neuter and general soft tissue procedures

  • Clinical experience in general veterinary medicine 


Optional but Beneficial Skills

  • Experience in performing dental surgeries 


Benefits and Compensation:

  • Salary Range: $90,000 to $110,000 - dependent on experience and surgical efficiency
