Join our Project Management Department as an Assistant Project Manager. In this role, you will oversee the operations of a construction project; you will work under the guidance of a designated Project Manager, assisting the project team and submissions on a designated curtainwall contract or section of a curtainwall contract. This position is in Portland, OR and will report to the Director of Project Management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop an understanding of the bid and contract documents (trade contract, scope drawings, specification, exhibits, bid pricing and clarifications).
  • Develop an understanding of the contract budget reporting system. 
  • Assist the Project Manager in: 
    1. coordinating the in-house project team (designers, engineers, production, assembly, site personnel) for the assigned contract or section of a contract.
    2. coordinating the client’s team (project manager, architects, engineers, consultants), to ascertain contract time, cost and quality objectives, and organize project resources accordingly. 
    3. developing, tracking, updating and reporting on the detailed project schedule for design, engineering, mockups, production, and installation activities. 
    4. developing, tracking, updating and reporting on the contract schedule of values and payment requisitions, ensuring the project cash flow is met and payments received in a timely manner.
    5. developing, tracking, and updating the project submittal log by review and understanding of project specifications and contract documents. 
    6. coordinating the Quality Management Department; developing, tracking, updating and reporting on the contract quality control and assurance system.
    7. pricing and purchasing of materials, equipment and sub-contracts, ensuring that both budgetary and specified contractual cost, time and quality requirements are met.
    8. researching, substantiating, presenting and reporting on changes to the contract scope. 
    9. providing and submitting all required internal and external contract reports and submissions. 
  • Attend and take meeting minutes at all required external and internal meetings, as required. Issue minutes with assigned action items following meetings and track deliverables to ensure timely execution. 
  • Must communicate effectively on safety values, which are incorporated into the company’ values. Safety assessments are a priority withing in the company’s values and you must enforce and promote safety policies and procedures. 
  • Performs additional assignments per the Manager’s direction.

SKILLS & ABILITIES 

Education

  • College education and/or equivalent experience in construction, project management or production related preferred.

 

Experience

  • 1 – 2 years of experience in curtain wall, engineering, architecture and/or construction preferred.  
  • Strong organization and people skills.
  • Knowledge of project management practices and terminology. 
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Well organized and able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.

 

Computer Skills: 

  • Working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD (familiarity with drawings, able to read, review and navigate).
  • Aptitude to learn any required in-house software. 

 

Other Requirements: 

  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural drawings, structural drawings, and engineering designs.
  • A self-motivated individual who enjoys detailed project work.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to work well under pressure, mature and confidential.
  • Must have the ability to interface with various departments and individuals, independently or as part of a team, as workflows dictate.
  • Ability to develop procedures and tools for increase efficiency.
