Eldor Automotive Powertrain USA is looking for a Preventative Maintenance Technician to join our highly automated production facility located in Daleville, VA. 


ABOUT THE ROLE

The Preventative Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing scheduled preventative and predictive maintenance activities on all production equipment and robotic cells within the manufacturing plant. This role focuses on maximizing equipment reliability, reducing unplanned downtime, and supporting overall production efficiency in a high-volume environment. 

  • Preventative Maintenance Execution:
    1. Perform scheduled PM tasks on production equipment, conveyors, tooling, and automated systems 
    2. Complete lubrication, adjustments, inspections, and component replacements per PM schedules 
    3. Perform robotic PM tasks (axis greasing, cable inspection, EOAT inspection) 
    4. Inspect mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems for wear or failure risks
    5. Document all PM activities accurately in the CMMS system
  • Predictive Maintenance Support:
    1. Assist with vibration analysis, thermal inspections, and other predictive techniques 
    2. Identify early signs of component wear or failure 
    3. Provide recommendations for corrective actions before breakdowns occur
  • Equipment & Systems Support:
    1. Support troubleshooting efforts when breakdowns occur 
    2. Assist maintenance team with major repairs when required 
    3. Verify proper equipment operation after PM completion
  • Continuous Improvement:
    1. Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) activities 
    2. Identify opportunities to improve PM intervals and procedures 
    3. Support lean manufacturing and 7s initiatives 
    4. Help reduce overall equipment downtime and improve OEE
  • Safety & Compliance:
    1. Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures 
    2. Ensure compliance with OSHA and plant safety standards 
    3. Maintain clean and organized work areas
    4. Follow IATF 16949 and plant quality standards
  • Additional Job Duties
    1. Perform emergency repair on the production and plastics automation equipment as needed.   
    2. Have strong skill for failures root cause investigation, modifications, improvements, and troubleshooting. 
    3. Understand spare parts management and acquire the proper spare parts in the event of a breakdown repair or planned maintenance work. 
    4. Correctly complete the recording of all machine breakdowns and troubleshooting activities.  
    5. Perform simple machinist duties and fabrication. 
    6. Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas. 
    7. Other duties as assigned.


ABOUT THE QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

  • High School Diploma & Technical training and/or Industry-specific certifications

OR

  • 2 years’ related experience and/or training in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred - Robot-specific training or certification (KUKA, Epson, or Kawasaki)

Experiences Required:

  • 2+ years maintenance experience in an automotive or manufacturing environment preferred.  
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills 
  • Experience using CMMS systems

Technical Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong understanding of industrial mechanical systems (bearings, gearboxes, drive systems, conveyors, cam-driven assemblies) 
  • Ability to perform precision mechanical adjustments and alignments 
  • Experience replacing and setting up tooling, and fixtures components 
  • Knowledge of torque specifications and use of precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators) 
  • Ability to troubleshoot vibration, misalignment, and mechanical wear issues
  • Electrical Skills, including:
  • Basic knowledge of industrial electrical systems (120V–480V) 
  • Ability to read electrical schematics 
  • Safe use of multimeter and other diagnostic tools 
  • Ability to read electrical schematics 
  • Understanding of pneumatic systems (valves, regulators, solenoids, cylinders) and ability to read schematics
  • Basic understanding of PLC-controlled equipment 
  • Ability to identify I/O faults 
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) certification or experience 
  • Understanding of machine guarding and safety interlocks 
  • Experience working around robotic cells 
  • Working knowledge of KUKA robotic systems (controllers and teach pendants)
  • Familiarity with Epson industrial robots (SCARA and small assembly robots) 
  • Basic troubleshooting experience with Kawasaki robotic systems 

 Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and bend for extended periods of time 
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs 
  • Comfortable working around moving machinery and robotic cells 
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime and weekends as required 
  • On call for an entire week, once or twice a month
