The Public Works Manager is responsible for overseeing key administrative functions related to public infrastructure projects, maintenance programs and asset management planning. This leadership role will manage a skilled team across a range of program areas, ensure compliance with local and State regulations, enhance public works operations and deliver exceptional customer service to both internal stakeholders and the public. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record in project or program management, budget planning and fostering a collaborative team environment. The City is seeking an individual with a positive attitude who is skilled in administrative functions and possesses the ability to:<ul type="disc" style="margin-bottom: 3pt;"><li style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Manage multiple conflicting priorities and work well in a fast-paced environment</li><li style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Be flexible and shift gears to assist with unforeseen circumstances</li><li style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Analyze data, available resources and stakeholder wants and needs to make recommendations for prioritization of work</li><li style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Assess existing processes, research alternatives, make change recommendations and oversee implementation </li><li style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">Ensure staff has the resources, training and support to provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers</li></ul>While experience in public works is preferable, professionals with backgrounds in program management, analysts, supervisors or other administrative roles--who are seeking a fast-paced and rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community--are encouraged to apply. Minimum Qualifications A combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:    Education:  Equivalent to completion of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public or business administration, construction management, civil engineering, communications or a related field.   Experience:  Five years of increasingly responsible experience in program and/or project management, preferably at a public works agency or similar environment, including at least two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity.   License:  Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment.
