The Child and Family Guidance Center is currently seeking a full time Overnight Crisis Clinician in our Bridgeport Mobile Crisis Intervention Services group. 

Working an overnight shift Tuesday through Saturday from 9PM to 6AM the Overnight Crisis Clinician is responsible for providing crisis intervention services to children ages zero to 18 or 19 experiencing a behavioral or mental health crisis. The Overnight Crisis Clinician will respond to crisis interventions with goal is to serve children in their homes and communities to reduce the number of visits to hospital Emergency Departments and divert them from hospitalization if a lower level of care is a safe, effective alternative. 

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following Essential Functions

  • Providing mobile clinical assessments and treatment of children who are in a psychiatric crisis. 
  • Screening of crisis referrals over the phone. 
  • Coordinating appropriate clinical response. 
  • Completing a crisis assessment and an individualized crisis plan created with the input of the family. 
  • Completing all required documentation in the electronic medical record system. 
  • Providing brief short-term intervention to families as needed. 
  • Arranging case management services where appropriate. 
  • Involving various social systems impacting the child in the development of appropriated intervention and care for the child and family. 
  • Arranging for appropriate after care. 
  • Screening Outpatient ECC Clinic Calls and determining appropriate level of care.
  • Accepting assignments or other tasks by the Program- Regional Director, Unit Director or CEO of The Child & Family Guidance Center

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or other related human service field. CT State License Eligible or MSW temp certification. 
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children and families with emotional and behavioral difficulties and their families 
  • Must have a driver’s license with access to a car and able to travel to travel within the greater Bridgeport and or Norwalk areas as needed. 
  • Bi-Lingual Spanish Speaker is preferred 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others while meeting deadlines 
  • Able to work in an unstructured environment under pressure with intense emotional situations.
