Position Summary:
The School Based Therapist provides initial and comprehensive evaluations, treatment plan development and review, psychotherapy, crisis assistance, and case consultation. The therapist works closely with school staff, behavioral health practitioners, and families to provide psychoeducation and to collaborate on progress towards treatment goals. This position is based in the schools.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Complete comprehensive evaluations for children and adolescents, in compliance with RMHC and CCBHC standards.
- Develop integrated individualized treatment plans for children in collaboration with families and other services providers.
- Review and update treatment plans at minimum every 180 days in compliance with DHS statute.
- Provide evidence-based, culturally competent, person centered, psychotherapy to children and their families at or above the agency’s expected performance level.
- Respond to and provide crisis assistance and intervention as needed.
- Complete clinical documentation and other medically necessary documentation in the RMHC electronic health record in alignment with agency and DHS standards and timelines.
- Complete all required standardized measurement tools for children and adolescents.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with families, schools, professionals, and collaborating agencies.
- Effectively collaborate with members of the interdisciplinary team, ensuring well-coordinated care and clinically appropriate referrals with families, schools, and other service agencies.
- Provide program information, consultation, and in-service training to school staff as needed.
- Actively participate in all School Linked Behavioral Health program meetings, integrated treatment planning meetings, and clinical meetings.
- Work a schedule sufficient to meet the needs of the caseload, school district(s) and agency as assigned.
- Consult with Clinical Supervisor regarding treatment and clinical outcomes for the people we serve to ensure clinical excellence.
- Attend training as required by RMHC and the Department of Human Services to meet both minimum training requirements and mandated training.
- Follow all Federal guidelines in accordance with the Department of Labor’s statutes and laws and any other regulatory agencies.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Able to compose and record professional quality comprehensive Evaluations, treatment plans, and progress notes in a timely fashion on a personal computer.
- Ability to provide family systems based, person centered individual, family and group therapy services at or above the agency’s expected performance level.
- Ability to build/maintain strong working relationships with collaborating agencies and partners.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity in working with diverse populations.
- Ability to effectively manage sensitive and/or crisis situations in a professional manner.

Education and Experience:
- Education Required: Master’s degree in Social Work, Family Therapy, Psychology or one of the behavioral sciences from an accredited college or university. Must be licensed or on track to be licensed as a Behavioral Health Professional in MN and ability to be credentialed by insurance companies. Experience delivering behavioral health services to children and/or families.
- Experience Preferred: Two years post degree experience in clinical social work, family therapy, psychology, or related fields with appropriate clinical supervision and independent clinical licensing (LICSW, LPCC, LMFT).
- Experience Preferred: Experience in the delivery of School-Based Mental Health Services and collaboration with school systems and special education services. Education in Family Systems Theory.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Sufficient visual acuity to read from a computer screen and printed materials.
- Adequate hearing to accurately receive and record verbal information.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to maintain a Minnesota driver's license and auto insurance
