Position Summary:
The HR Generalist will provide day-to-day human resources support for a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for implementing HR policies, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and supporting workforce engagement initiatives. The HR Generalist will serve as a key resource for employees and management on HR-related matters, including recruitment, employee relations, training, and performance management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruitment & Staffing:
- Coordinate and manage full-cycle recruitment for hourly and salaried positions.
- Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and develop job postings.
- Conduct interviews, background checks, and onboarding processes.
- Employee Relations:
- Act as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns.
- Investigate and resolve workplace issues in compliance with company policies and labor laws.
- Promote a positive work environment and employee engagement.
- Union Relations:
- Support labor relations activities and maintain positive relationships with union representatives.
- Assist in grievance handling and contract interpretation.
- Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
- Compliance & Policy Administration:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (EEO, FMLA, OSHA, etc.).
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
- Assist with audits and reporting requirements.
- Training & Development:
- Support training initiatives for safety, compliance, and skill development.
- Coordinate orientation programs for new hires.
- Performance Management:
- Assist managers with performance review processes and goal setting.
- Provide guidance on corrective actions and progressive discipline.
- HR Metrics & Reporting:
- Track and report HR metrics such as turnover, absenteeism, and headcount.
- Recommend improvements based on data analysis.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with grievance handling and labor negotiations.
- Knowledge of safety and OSHA compliance.
- Previous experience working in a unionized environment.
Working Conditions:
- On-site role in a manufacturing plant environment.
- May require occasional travel to other facilities or job fairs.
