Position Overview:
This position is for a System Administrator to provide 24/7 Tier 2 Technical Helpdesk and Operational Support within a Network Operations Center (NOC) environment. The role supports geographically dispersed enterprise IT systems and infrastructure, ensuring continuous availability, operational stability, and compliance with federal security standards.
The System Administrator will provide remote technical administration, troubleshooting, and steady-state operational support for enterprise systems, servers, networks, and desktop environments in a high-availability environment.
Must be U.S. Citizen
Must be able to support 24/7 operations (shift-based environment)
Position may require onsite support as required
The primary scope of duties include
- Provide 24/7 remote, over-the-phone administration, technical assistance, and Tier 2 Helpdesk support
- Manage and monitor critical IT infrastructure within a Network Operations Center environment
- Perform steady-state systems administration and monitoring
- Troubleshoot enterprise network, server, and desktop issues
- Install and manage system security patches and updates
- Perform hardware and software upgrades
- Support data storage, data retrieval, and system optimizations
- Create, modify, verify, and monitor backup jobs
- Support data replication, backup, restore, and recovery operations
- Maintain documentation and assist in research for problem resolution
- Support enterprise-wide system upgrades and change management initiatives
Minimum Candidate Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or related IT field; OR
- Microsoft Fundamentals or CompTIA certifications; OR
- Minimum 2 years IT Help Desk support experience in a Windows Active Directory environment; OR
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Windows Active Directory, network support, IT operations, and hardware support
Security Requirements
Must be able to attain up to Secret Clearance (see additional details below)
Scope of Work and Requirements
The System Administrator must possess strong working knowledge of enterprise networks, servers, and desktop applications. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to multitask effectively while managing phone calls, email requests, system monitoring dashboards, and incident queues.
Responsibilities include:
- Primary systems administration within a Windows Active Directory environment
- Support of file/print servers, domain controllers, application servers, and media storage systems
- Management of DNS, Organizational Units (OUs), AD Sites/Subnets, GPOs, ACLs, and account administration
- Hardware installations, wiring/cabling support, rack relocations, and power source coordination
- OS configuration, troubleshooting, system optimization, and steady-state maintenance
- Backup media rotations and system recovery operations
- Monitoring systems for compliance with enterprise-wide standards
- Executing enterprise-wide upgrades and systematic configuration changes
Skill Sets Anticipated
- Expertise in Windows Active Directory administration
- Experience supporting enterprise-wide SCCM deployments
- Proficiency with enterprise management and monitoring tools including:
- HP SIM
- SolarWinds
- CommVault
- VMware vCenter
- NICE Vision Control Net
- Nagios
- SCCM / SCSM / SCOM
- Splunk
- Cisco PRIME
- Dell OpenManage Essentials
- SharePoint environments
- Experience monitoring OS and security patching
- Ability to support desktop and laptop imaging using enterprise deployment techniques
- Experience leveraging enterprise printer and multifunction device management tools
- Strong background in backup, restore, and recovery procedures
- Understanding of enterprise-level Microsoft Server technologies and supporting hardware
