Warehouse Manager

About the Role:
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for coordinating products and staff within the warehouse.  This role oversees the efficient receipt, storage, and distribution of a wide range of goods.  The Warehouse Manager ensures the security of the stock and the warehouse. Their duties include overseeing receiving and dispatching merchandise appropriately and managing systems processes.


Core Responsibilities

Team Leadership

  • Overseeing day-to-day operations of the back of the warehouse including inventory management, layout and shipping/receiving processes
  • Coordinating with Team Leaders and conduct daily huddles to increase communication, share relevant information, goals and targets, elevate staff and encourage a positive team environment
  • Keeping a consistent presence in the warehouse and is available to staff as needed
  • Establishing departmental standards and demonstrating a willingness to take on each role to support the team 
  • Training and guiding new team members on company policies, procedures and best practices 
  • Ensuring schedules are posted in a timely manner and they reflect the current needs of the business
  • Ensuring team is on task and has been made aware of expectations for each day 
  • Tracking absenteeism and performance, reporting information and issues to the Human Resources Manager
  • Assisting in the development of coaching plans, disciplinary meetings and performance reviews as necessary
  • Ensuring all staff are adhering to OHSA standards and procedures
  • Be an eager participant in generating recommendations and suggestions to elevate organizational effectiveness 
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures to enhance productivity and efficiency
  • Monitor inventory levels and conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy and minimize discrepancies
  • Collaborate and communicate frequently with other Department Managers
  • Analyze warehouse processes and identify areas for improvement to increase efficiency and reduce costs
  • Implement best practices for warehouse operations and logistics

Reporting:

  • Prepare and present regular reports on warehouse performance, including inventory metrics, labor costs, and shipping statistics as needed
  • Utilize data to make informed decisions and support strategic planning
  • Review weekly payroll, staying within departmental labour budgets, auditing timesheets and bi-weejkly payroll approvals


Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in warehouse management or team lead role
  • Proven track record of managing a warehouse team and optimizing operations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to work in a respectful manner with a diverse community of staff, vendors, customers and others
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to direct a team with competing priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to handle inquiries and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability and willingness to employ a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and making decisions.
  • Intermediate computer skills in Google Workspace

Additional Certifications:

  • Valid Forklift operator certification is an asset but not a requirement for the role
