The Cellar Tech's primary responsibility is ensuring that only the highest quality product is made. This includes ensuring the facility cleanliness and quality standards are being diligently maintained. Being able to conduct all quality checks efficiency, effectively and in a timely manner is essential. Elements of this position include oversight of the following activities: Inventory management, employee training, Cellar work, & New Product Development. This team member must have a drive for continuous improvement in all processes, logical problem-solving skills, and the desire to lead by example.

Responsibilities and Duties

· The primary function of a Cellar Technician is the day to day operation of cellar duties required to produce and meet/ exceed the quota for the products BHC provides.

· Machinery will need to be maintained during the shift to provide a fluid production process. (I.E. Filtration systems, CIP systems, and Transfers)

· Assist in the run-down, blow-out, and clean cycles on the filtration systems.

· Willingness to provide and expand common knowledge to the BHC line by utilizing time for R&D.

· Develop and speak up about any and all ideas to potential growth and optimization of the cellar.

· Working as a team member in producing a high volume of quality hard cider in a safe and efficient manner

· Learn, understand and execute cellar operations according the process instructions and/or standard operation procedures (SOP’s)

· Regular attendance in order to work cellar shifts as scheduled by the Cellar Manager.

· Work in tandem with other Cellarmen, Supervisors, Managers, and other BHC personal

· Help-out as needed in all other parts of the BHC production building (Team Player)

· Keep the cellar areas and workspaces clean and organized. 5S requirements. Prepare tanks necessary for the following days requirements 

· Maintain cellar tools, equipment, and materials by using them to their designed intent

· Complete all paperwork associated with each duty to 100% accuracy

Qualifications, Skills & Requirements

· Required: High school diploma or equivalent

· Ability to read, analyze and interpret industry/trade magazines.

· Excellent knowledge of the industry and trends impacting the business.

· Ability to effectively communicate, in English, both verbally and in writing.

· Ability to do routine business math calculations including computation of costs and pricing.

· Excellent understanding of the principles of Production.

· Able to use Microsoft Office Applications

· Must be able to lift & move at least 165 pounds at a time on a regular basis (1/2-barrel full weight)

· Must be able to remain standing for an entire shift

· Must be able to perform regular duties safely

· Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job 

Working Conditions

· The work for this position will be divided between a climate controlled, smoke free office environment, outside and in other business locations. Normal outdoor weather and travel hazards apply.

· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud at times requiring ear protection.

· Work will be performed from eight to ten hours per day, five to six days per week. Weekend work may be required for a few busy in-season weekends.

· The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold and extreme heat. Eye protection is required around moving parts.

· While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and/or use a computer.

Measure of Performance

· Workbook updated daily

· Help plan and execute weekly/daily schedule

· Product formulation (as needed)

· All batch data properly recorded on the appropriate documents

· Shows up to work on time with a good attitude

· All R&D paperwork filled out and handed in to supervisor

· Follows directions well

· Weekly tracking of raw materials, work-in-progress, in stock inventory.

· All paperwork is completed in an accurate and timely manner.

· Maintains professional appearance all times.

· Provides a high degree of cooperation and interaction with other employees and departments.

· Improve product quality and overall processes

· Minimize raw material and product waste

· Meet daily production quotas

· Complete assigned task in an appropriate amount of time

· Fully completing all assigned tasks or seeking assistance when needed.
