Compensation 

The starting hourly wage range for this position is:

$20 - $22.50 per hour, based on placement within the union wage scale.

Employees progress through a structured wage schedule outlined in the collective bargaining agreement. Pay increases are tied to training completion and job level.

Shift Differentials: available for 2nd and 3rd shift

Additional earnings opportunities include overtime pay in accordance with state law.

Position Overview

Production Workers support daily steel manufacturing operations while maintaining high safety and quality standards. This is a physically active role in a heavy industrial environment requiring teamwork, attention to detail, and adherence to safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate steel production equipment and machinery safely and efficiently
  • Load, unload, and transport steel materials (coils, bars, sheets, structural components)
  • Perform quality inspections using measuring devices and tools
  • Follow production schedules, work instructions, and safety procedures
  • Assist with machine setup, changeovers, and basic preventative maintenance
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet daily production goals
  • Collaborate with all levels on 5S projects throughout the plant

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Prior manufacturing or industrial experience preferred, but not required
  • Willingness to complete company-paid training programs
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to workplace safety
  • Ability to work assigned shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Stand and move for extended periods
  • Work in a loud industrial environment – hot in the summer and cold in the winter
  • Wear required PPE at all times
