Minimum Qualifications:
- 2 years Carpentry experience
- Valid Utah Driver License
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Computer skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of carpentry and modern construction methods; concrete forming and laying, finishing; operate large and small equipment including hand tools, power saws, drills; backhoe, skid steer.
Job Duties:
- Construct, install, and repair structural and finished woodwork, masonry, tile, furniture, fixtures, and equipment, floors, ceiling systems, and roof.
- Install subfloors, partitions, studs, joints, drywall, rafters tunnel and sewer supports
- Install millwork, custom cabinetry, stairs, railings, trims, molding, bathroom hardware and hardware backing
- Repair and install doors, door frames (hollow metal and wood), locks, hardware, door closing mechanism, and ADA signs.
- Perform exterior and interior finish work
- Work with concrete in excavating, forming, laying and finishing sidewalk, curbs, slabs, etc.
- Work with other members of the team to ensure projects are completed to a high standard
- Use hand and power tools to complete tasks
- Maintain accurate records and create work orders using various computer programs and various training assignments.
- Order materials for various projects.
- Light to moderate demolition, including but not limited to removal of damaged or unneeded structural components.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Proven experience as a carpenter - rough and finish work
- Familiarity with hand and power tools
- Basic math skills
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Problem-solving abilities – Building often comes with curve balls and unexpected challenges. We need people who can think on their feet and provide solutions.
- Attention to detail – Quality is in the details. If the corners aren't right, the whole thing is off.
- Understanding of commercial code and ADA requirements for building
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Physical strength – Commercial carpentry requires lifting heavy materials and tools.
Physical demands include:
- Long periods in stationary position.
- Operate equipment.
- Operate hand and power tools
- Ascend/descend and work on top of ladders.
- Position self to reach low, high, and awkward spaces (may include bending and twisting).
- Inspect, estimate, assess spaces and needed repairs or improvements.
- Move, transport, and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Exposed to outside elements, construction, and painting supplies.
