We are seeking a seasoned Shop Foreman to join our executive team and help guide the company through its next phase of growth.


Position Overview:

The Shop Foreman oversees daily operations of the industrial shop floor, ensuring production schedules are met safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. This role supervises shop personnel, coordinates workflow, manages equipment and materials, and serves as the key liaison between production staff and management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of shop employees  engaged in fabrication, assembly, machining, maintenance, or related      operations.
  • Plan, schedule, and assign work to meet production  deadlines and quality requirements.
  • Monitor workflow, trouble shoot production issues,  and adjust priorities as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and  company policies and procedures.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate shop personnel; participate in hiring and performance reviews.
  • Inspect work in progress and finished products for conformance to specifications.
  • Manage inventory of raw materials, consumables, and  shop supplies; coordinate with purchasing as needed.
  • Maintain and enforce preventive maintenance schedules  for all shop equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and logistics  teams to improve efficiency and resolve production challenges.
  • Track production metrics (output, downtime, scrap, etc.) and report results to management.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certificate preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a light industrial, manufacturing, or fabrication environment, including  2+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of shop operations, equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Proven ability to read blueprints, production schedules, and technical drawings.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications (MS Office).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • OSHA safety training or equivalent certification  preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. for extended periods.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and machinery typical of a light industrial environment.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
