<p id="isPasted"><strong>Streets & Utilities:</strong></p><ul style="margin-bottom: 3pt;"><li>Assist with duties related to the construction and repair of city streets, water, and sewer systems and the general city infrastructure.</li><li>Operate dump trucks with attachments, loaders, grader, tractors, skid loaders, backhoes, sidewalk sweepers, scooters, vactors and thawing equipment, and light pick-ups which are used to maintain city infrastructure and provide city services.</li><li>Operate jackhammers, tampers, and concrete saws to repair concrete, blacktop curbs, gutters, and sidewalks.</li><li>May set up forms and pour and surface cement.</li><li>Maintain storm sewers by removing debris with vactor equipment; may enter storm sewer system as needed for maintenance.</li><li>Haul aggregate from pit locations for use in road construction or maintenance.</li><li>Replace or install sewer and water utility lines and valves.</li><li>Place traffic control devices and warning cones around construction areas to protect workers and the public from temporary hazards.</li><li>May serve as a traffic control or flag person during construction or repair projects.</li><li>May locate utilities in advance of construction.</li><li>May serve as leader of a pothole patching crew.</li><li>May install traffic control and informational signs per state standards.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul><br><br><strong>Solid Waste & Recycling:</strong><ul><li>Learn assigned collection routes and on-call service duties; lift and dump refuse or recycling receptacles by hand or automated equipment into collection vehicles; collect solid waste & recycling from residential, commercial, institutional and industrial sites and transport it to the Waste Campus. </li><li>Drive large trucks and small motor vehicles used for refuse & recycling collection.</li><li>May need to have licensure to operate equipment in the landfill.</li><li>Assist crews as needed with the safe performance of duties related to the maintenance and operation of the City’s MRF and Waste Campus related activities.</li><li>Operate rolling stock equipment used in the Solid Waste Division’s operations including: skid steer with multiple attachments, front end loader, fork lift, roll-off/transitional trucks, mobile shredder, semi-tractor & trailer, vibratory screener, aerial lift, compost turner & tractor, snow plow for snow removal, rear load refuse trucks, automated refuse & recycling trucks, split body trucks, scooters and a general knowledge of the material recovery facility’s operations.</li><li>Operate fixed equipment within the Solid Waste Division including: ECS, magnets, trommel screen, conveyance, compactors, stationary shredders, loading docks, disk screen and baler.</li><li>Assist in operations and maintenance projects at the Waste Campus; may assist with cleaning and repairs at the Waste Campus; Maintain & repair/fabricate waste receptacle inventory.</li><li>Assist with special collection and disposal needs associated with storm damaged trees & brush.</li><li>Perform required daily asset management data entry. <strong>Experience Required:</strong> Some training in equipment operation and two (2) years of related work experience.<br><strong>Minimum Education Requirements:</strong> High School Diploma or G.E.D.<br><strong>Certification/License: </strong>Valid Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL) with tanker and airbrakes endorsement<br><br><strong>Physical Requirements</strong><ul style="margin-bottom: 3.0pt;"><li>Considerable ability to perform heavy manual labor requiring continuous use of large motor skills, standing for long periods, and frequent bending, stooping, twisting, turning, crouching, stretching, and reaching.<li>Frequent exposure to noise, vehicle exhaust, grease, oil, dust, odors and grime. <li>Frequent exposure to seasonal temperature extremes, inclement weather and associative hazards. <li>Exposure to materials that enter the waste stream, some of which may present hazards if not correctly handled. <li>Work around moving equipment and vehicular traffic requires caution as well as use of safety apparel. <li>Work may include intermittent lifting, pushing or pulling of over 60 pounds.<li>Required to work in permit and non-permit confined spaces in the role of Entrant, Attendant or Supervisor. <li>Work entails high or dangerous work conditions.</ul>
