Alamo Trust, Inc. is growing our Education Department and we are looking for an Elementary Education Specialist to join the team.

POSITION SCOPE
The Elementary Education Specialist develops and supervises programming for Pre-K through elementary students. The specialist works closely with the Sr. Manager of K-12 Programs and Adult Learning, the Director of Education, and the education department staff to provide quality programming, curriculum, and learning experiences for students and educators.
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develop on-site programming for preschool and elementary students, and visitors in the Texas Cavaliers Education Center (TCEC) and other spaces at the Alamo
- Facilitate field trip experiences, including guided tours and classroom activities
- Create a learning environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students
- Play a significant role in curriculum creation and daily activities of summer camp, including small group supervision of campers
- Establish activities and field trip options for preschool students in the Early Learners Classroom at TCEC
- Represent Alamo Education at off-site programs upon request, such as Curriculum Nights, family events, and festivals
- Manage the History Trunk loan program. Coordinate requests, confirmations, shipping, pickup and drop-off, inventory, and date collection.
- Develop lessons for students and teachers with age/subject-appropriate resources to use in the classroom and during Alamo field trips
- Collaborate with Distance Learning Educator, STEAM Specialist, and School Programs Educator to create and implement age-appropriate resources
- Work with Alamo staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods
- Support elementary teachers with educator workshops and in-services
- Contribute to the Alamo Curriculum Project as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree required.
- Masters degree or higher preferred
- Experience as a Pre-K or elementary educator required
- Experience developing museum programming preferred
- Experience teaching in the classroom preferred
- Curriculum development experience required
- Ability to collaborate with other educators and museum staff
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and think critically
- Experience with project-based learning (PBL) preferred
- Microsoft Word/Outlook/Excel/Microsoft Teams fluency
