Department: Welding / ProductionReports To: Welding Supervisor or LeadPosition SummaryThe Weld Intern supports the welding department by learning basic welding processes, shop safety, and production standards in a manufacturing environment. This position is designed for individuals currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a welding program who are seeking hands-on experience in a production setting.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist experienced welders with daily welding and fabrication tasksLearn and perform basic welding techniques (MIG primarily; other processes as assigned)Prepare materials for welding (grinding, cleaning, measuring, and positioning parts)Follow weld prints, work instructions, and production schedulesPerform basic welds under supervision and gradually increase responsibility as skills developInspect own work for quality and completenessMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work areaProperly use PPE and follow all safety policiesAssist with material handling and staging as neededParticipate in on-the-job training and skill developmentRequired QualificationsCurrently enrolled in or recently completed a welding program (high school, technical school, or trade program)Basic knowledge of welding tools and equipmentAbility to read basic measurements and follow instructionsWillingness to learn and take directionStrong attention to safety and qualityReliable attendance and punctualityPreferred QualificationsIntroductory MIG welding experienceAbility to read basic weld symbols or blueprintsPrevious shop or manufacturing experiencePhysical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periodsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs with or without assistanceAbility to work in a production environment (heat, noise, sparks, fumes with PPE)Skills & CompetenciesPositive attitude and strong work ethicCoachable and open to feedbackTeam-oriented mindsetAttention to detailCommitment to learning a skilled tradeSchedule & DurationSchedule: Full-time or part-time, aligned with production hoursGrowth OpportunitySuccessful Weld Interns may be considered for full-time Welder positions based on performance, attendance, skill development, and business needs.
