Speech Language Pathologist - PRN


Position Summary


The PRN Speech Language Pathologist at Crane Memorial Hospital provides diagnostic and therapeutic services to adult and geriatric patients with speech, language, swallowing, cognitive, and hearing disorders. This role functions as part of an interdisciplinary team to support patient rehabilitation and discharge planning.


Essential Job Functions

  • Assess and evaluate patients to diagnose communication, swallowing, and cognitive deficits
  • Provide speech-language pathology services to adult and geriatric patients (18 years and older)
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with achievable short- and long-term goals
  • Document evaluations, treatments, progress notes, and discharge summaries per policy
  • Revise treatment plans based on patient progress and performance
  • Provide patient and caregiver education for continued therapy following discharge
  • Submit accurate and timely patient charges
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences and care planning
  • Assist with referrals and maintain awareness of community resources 
  • Provide E-Stim therapy when ordered and medically indicated
  • Participate in staff training, meetings, in-services, and continuing education

  • Adhere to regulatory, professional, and hospital standards
  • Maintain confidentiality and appropriate access to PHI
  • Follow patient safety, infection control, and hazardous materials protocols
  • Participate in Performance Improvement activities
Requirements:

 

Qualifications

  • Current Speech Language Pathology license in the State of Texas
  • Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Hospital-based experience preferred
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer and word processing proficiency
