Summary

Under supervision, loads and unloads material from customer vehicles, trucks or rail cars, sorts into appropriate areas, uses mechanized equipment to sort and/or break down material for customer use.

 

Non-Ferrous:

Inspects inbound material received from customersIdentifies non-ferrous metals and sorts different grades of material according to mill specificationsPackages scrap in appropriate mannerOperates alligator shear to cut down materialsMoves material in the yard or warehouse area utilizing forklift, bobcat, or pay loaderMay use torching equipment to break down materialOther responsibilities as assigned or required. 

 

Safety:

Wears all necessary PPE when working in the yard.  Follows company safety standards at all times.     Failure to follow safety requirements, may result in loss of position.

 

 

Requirements:

High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.  Must be able to interact with customers and vendors in a friendly and courteous manner.  

 

Prior experience operating heavy machinery preferred but not required as we will train candidates.   Some mechanical aptitude necessary.  Will use hand tools for minor repairs.  Must be able to lift a minimum of 30-50 lbs and 100+lbs on 2-person lift.
