Job Title: SLITTER MACHINE OPERATOR
Location: 280 East Lothenbach Avenue, West St. Paul, MN 55118
Schedule: Full-time, Mon-Fri
Pay Type: Hourly employee, starting wage of $28.66/hour; finishing wage of $37.85/hour
Additional: Unionized manufacturing plant, benefit package offered; two-year wage progression
SUMMARY
Makes ready and operates slitter machines to produce register rolls according to specifications by performing the following tasks:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Prepare a new master paper roll for loading at machine’s lift station.
- Inspect materials, products, and containers at each step of the packaging process.
- Set all knives to accommodate different styles and repair broken or defective knives as needed.
- Perform minor repairs to equipment.
- Stop, reset, and restart machine when malfunctions occur.
- Read work order to determine the specifications of jobs to be run.
- Rethread paper through slitter if web breaks.
- Record information such as style, time, and product produced and date packaged.
- Maintain a clean and neat work area.
- Minimal ability to operate computers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception. Also must be able to crawl along the ground on hands and knees to repair or adjust equipment and material.
