Memory Care Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Position Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides compassionate, person-centered care to residents in Assisted Living and Memory Support. Under the direction of the ALF Nurse Manager and nursing team, the CNA assists residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), promotes dignity and safety, and helps maintain a supportive and therapeutic environment.

This role requires patience, empathy, teamwork, and the ability to work with residents who may have cognitive impairments such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease. The CNA plays a vital part in enhancing residents well-being, supporting comfort, and ensuring that care is delivered in alignment with the communitys Service Excellence philosophy and core values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prioritizes resident rights, safety, dignity, and emotional well-being at all times.
Responds promptly to call lights, bells, or intercom requests and assesses residents needs.
Assists residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and other ADLs.
Documents care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
Sets up, serves, and collects meal trays; provides feeding assistance when needed.
Assists residents with transfers, ambulation, and mobility devices.
Turns and repositions residents to prevent pressure injuries.
Changes bed linens and maintains tidy, clean resident rooms.
Takes and records vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other observations as directed.
Prepares, cleans, and stores equipment, treatment trays, and care supplies.
Provides support and guidance to visitors in a courteous manner.
Completes errands, answers phones, and assists with daily resident routines.
Performs light housekeeping tasks within resident rooms and care areas.
Supports team efforts and contributes to a positive, resident-first environment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of experience in a care setting preferred; or a combination of training and experience.
Current Florida CNA certification required.
Current CPR/BLS certification required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to communicate respectfully and clearly with residents, families, and staff.
Ability to read and interpret care instructions, safety guidelines, and procedure manuals.
Ability to document care notes and complete routine reports.
Basic math skills, including the ability to measure, calculate percentages, and record data.
Problem-solving abilities, including using judgment in routine and emergency situations.
Ability to use electronic charting systems (PointClickCare preferred).
Comfort using computers, tablets, and basic programs such as email and web browsers.
Interest and patience in supporting individuals with cognitive impairments.
Ability to work collaboratively and contribute positively to team dynamics.
Ability to balance independent responsibilities with team-based care.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, and assist residents throughout the shift.
Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
Works primarily indoors in a climate-controlled environment.
