The Mental Health Therapist is responsible forassessment, treatment planning, provision of supportive counseling, andcoordination of multiple service providers for client caseload. Clients areadults with severe and persistent mental illness. Services are given inclinical, community, and home based settings.
Location: This position is based out of LifeWorks NW's Beaverton site.
Pay/Benefits: $67,849-$73,840 salary with Full benefits.
Salary Placement Notice:
The posted salary range reflects the compensation potential for this role. Most candidates will be placed between the entry level and midpoint of the range, depending on their experience and qualifications. However, more seasoned professionals with extensive exact or similar experience may be considered for placement toward the higher end of the range. Final salary offers are made in alignment with internal compensation processes in accordance with Oregon Pay Equity laws.
EssentialResponsibilities:
- Responsiblefor client orientation including advising clients and significant other(s) ofthe services offered through the program and recommend services.
- Responsiblefor client evaluations and performs the initial intake interviews. Collects information about clients using interviews, case histories,observational techniques, and other assessment methods. Identifiespsychological, emotional, or behavioral issues and diagnoses disorders. Identifies appropriatetreatment services. Notifies client and significant other(s) of diagnosis andinitial recommendations. Completes written narrative of evaluation and relevantopening paperwork. Obtains necessary releases.
- Develops therapeutictreatment plans based on clients' interests, abilities, strengths and needs.Treatment plans will have measurable goals and objectives based on thediagnosis and will specify type, frequency, intensity, and duration of therapy.Treatment plans will be client driven and follow-ups will be completed on time,assessing the quantity and quality of services provided, modifying plans anddiagnoses as necessary.
- Providesindividual and group therapy, crisis intervention, medication training andsupport, individual or group skills training, and treatment planning utilizinginterventions drawn from a variety of clinical and rehabilitation approaches asneeded by the client.
- Counsels individuals,groups, or families to help them understand problems, define goals, and developrealistic action plans. Common topics addressed include stress, poverty,unemployment, substance abuse, physical abuse, rehabilitation, social adjustment,child care, aging or family situations.
- Teaches clients sociallyacceptable behavior, employing techniques such as behavior modification andpositive reinforcement. Encourages individuals and family members to developand use skills and strategies for confronting their problems in a constructivemanner. Providesassistance and support to clients with the job search process.
- Interact with clients toassist them in gaining insight, defining goals, and planning action to achieveeffective personal, social, educational, and vocational development andadjustment.
- Providescase-coordination by maintaining contact with other agencies, referralsource(s) and staff regarding client and significant other(s) involvement intreatment services.
- Assiststhe client to the extent necessary, based on client's level of functioning, toaccess needed services and resources. Advocates on client's behalf. May attend the client's psychiatricmedical appointments, if clinically indicated.
- Reviews and evaluatesclients' progress in relation to measurable goals described in treatment plans
- Provides clients or familymembers with information about mental health and addictions issues and aboutavailable services and programs, making appropriate referrals when necessary.
- Reports any pertinentinformation to the proper authorities in cases of endangerment, neglect, orabuse of children, individuals with severe and persistent mental illness or theelderly.
- Act as client advocates tocoordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisissituations. Providesclinical support to clients with immediate and urgent needs.
- Provideassistance with 'team tasks' (taking responsibility in one particular area i.e.arranging transportation).Serves as back-up for other staff when needed. Mayserve as Clinician of the Day.
- Responsiblefor record maintenance including providing appropriate treatment plans andprogress notes. Obtains pertinentrecords from other treatment agencies. Track client involvement, follow-throughand progress in treatment activities. Completes all clinical forms recordsincluding record opening and closing information, insurance authorizationinformation, Service Activity Logs (S/AL's), treatment plans and progress notes in an electronic health record systemin a timely manner.
- Maytransport clients in a personal or agency vehicle.
Qualifications:
- Master'sdegree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or Mental Health Related field.
- Valid and active QMHP credential certification through MHACBO or a valid and active status (licensed or registered intern) with an approved Oregon licensing board.
- Demonstratedability to conduct an assessment, including identifying precipitating events,gathering histories of mental and physical health, alcohol and other drug use,past mental health services and criminal justice contacts, assessing family,social and working relationships and conducting a mental status examination;complete a five-axis DSM diagnosis; write and supervise the implementation ofan Individual Service and Support Plan; and provide individual, family and/orgroup therapy within the scope of their training.
- Demonstrateability to provide culturally-competent treatment services to diverse clientpopulations and maintain cooperativeworking relationship in a culturally diverse environment.
- Knowledgeof medications commonly used by client population.
- Goodcomputer skills including a functional knowledge of Microsoft Outlook andWord. Ability to master proprietary software including electronic healthrecord system.
- Requires valid driver's license, proof of current automobile insurance coverage, verification of safe driving record from DMV, and ability to meet LWNW driving requirements.
