At de Lazy Lizard, food runners are the connection between the kitchen and the guest experience — making sure every plate makes its way from the kitchen to the table quickly, accurately, and looking its best in a high-volume, fast-paced tropical waterfront restaurant environment. This role requires speed, attention to detail, communication, and teamwork while maintaining high standards of presentation and service.



The Food Runner is responsible for delivering food from the kitchen to guests promptly and accurately, confirming plate presentation and helping maintain smooth service flow throughout the restaurant. You will work closely with the expo team and support staff to ensure every order leaves the window correctly and reaches the right table without delay. Food runners also help maintain clean service areas, assist with stocking and resetting, and support overall floor efficiency during busy shifts. This is a fast-moving, team-driven role designed to support both the kitchen and front-of-house teams. Food runners play a critical role in keeping service flowing smoothly, maintaining food quality, and ensuring guests enjoy a relaxed, tropical dining experience from the first bite to the last.

Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment
  • Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
  • Ability to carry multiple plates or trays safely and efficiently
  • Comfortable being on your feet and walking continuously for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry 25+ pounds
  • Strong communication skills and team-oriented mindset
  • Willingness to learn and follow de Lazy Lizards service standards
  • Deliver food from the kitchen to guests quickly, safely, and accurately
  • Verify plates match tickets and in correct seat number position
  • Maintain strong communication with expo, and support staff during service
  • Ensure proper food presentation and report any quality issues immediately
  • Assist with maintaining organized food windows and clear pathways between kitchen and dining areas
  • Run sauces, condiments, and additional items as needed to support guest experience
  • Help maintain clean and stocked service stations throughout the shift
  • Support table maintenance by assisting with pre-bussing when needed
  • Maintain awareness of table numbers, sections, and restaurant layout to improve efficiency
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation standards at all times
  • complete opening, closing, and side work tasks as assigned
