About this position
The Food Handler plays a key role in supporting kitchen operations by ensuring food is prepared, stored, and handled safely and efficiently. This position requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation under the direction of kitchen supervisors or chefs
- Follow proper food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including food prep surfaces, storage areas, and utensils
- Properly label and store ingredients and prepared items
- Support kitchen and service staff with meal assembly and event preparation
- Dispose of waste and maintain cleanliness according to company standards
- Comply with all health department regulations and company policies
Requirements
- Previous experience in food service, catering, or hospitality preferred but not required
- Valid South Carolina Food Handler certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented
