Description:
The Retail Sales Associate is the face of Marieke Gouda’s on-site store, responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining attractive product displays, and helping guests learn more about our handcrafted cheeses. This position supports daily store operations, including cashiering, stocking, and merchandising. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, has a passion for food, and thrives in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service
- Greet guests with a warm, friendly attitude and offer product guidance
- Share the Marieke Gouda story and educate customers on cheese pairings, ingredients, and storage
- Assist with special requests, gift box assembly, and product recommendations
- Handle customer concerns with professionalism and escalate as needed
Cashiering & Transactions
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to process purchases, returns, and gift cards
- Accurately handle cash, credit, and mobile payments
- Follow store opening and closing procedures, including cash drawer balancing
Merchandising & Stocking
- Restock shelves, rotate inventory, and maintain clean, organized displays
- Ensure pricing is accurate and signage reflects current promotions
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate product needs to management
Store Maintenance
- Keep the store clean, tidy, and inviting for all visitors
- Assist with sanitizing food-safe surfaces and store fixtures
- Participate in seasonal store decoration or in-store events as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous retail or customer service experience preferred
- Friendly, outgoing personality with strong communication skills
- Ability to learn about specialty foods and share knowledge with guests
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting up to 30 lbs
- Weekend availability preferred
Work Environment:
- Full-time
- Must be available to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Retail floor environment with a customer-focused atmosphere
