About this position
The Coax Splicer is responsible for performing high-quality coaxial cable splicing, maintenance, and repair to support cable television, internet, and telecommunications networks. This role ensures signal integrity, system reliability, and compliance with company and customer specifications while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform coax splicing, activation, and maintenance on aerial and underground plant
Prepare and splice hardline and coaxial cable per company and customer specifications
Install, replace, and repair connectors, taps, splitters, and related components
Test and balance RF levels to ensure optimal signal performance
Troubleshoot signal issues, ingress/egress, and service outages
Read and interpret prints, maps, and system documentation
Perform strand mapping and documentation as required
Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used
Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and traffic control
Participate in daily safety meetings and job briefings
Maintain company tools, vehicles, and test equipment
Assist with construction and plant maintenance tasks as needed
Qualifications
Prior experience as a Coax Splicer in cable or telecom environments
Strong understanding of RF systems and coaxial plant
Experience with aerial and underground splicing
Ability to read prints, system maps, and work orders
Valid driver’s license
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Ability to lift 75–100 lbs and perform physical job duties
Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Comcast, Spectrum, Cox, or similar MSO systems
Knowledge of sweep and balance procedures
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
Bucket truck experience
Fiber familiarity (hybrid fiber/coax environments)
