Description:
We are seeking a skilled Gang Tooling Setup Technician to support our CNC lathe operations. This role is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and optimizing gang tooling configurations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on machining experience, understands tooling layouts and offsets, and takes pride in precision work. This position plays a key role in minimizing downtime, improving cycle times, and supporting consistent part quality.
What You’ll Do
- Set up and adjust gang tooling systems on CNC lathe machines
- Install, align, and indicate tooling to meet print and process requirements
- Set tool offsets and verify tooling clearances
- Support machine setups and job changeovers
- Troubleshoot tooling, alignment, and clearance issues
- Perform first-piece verification and support part approval
- Maintain tooling condition and identify replacement or repair needs
- Follow job travelers, work instructions, and quality requirements
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to tooling, cycle time, and scrap reduction
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Experience with CNC lathe gang tooling setups
- Strong understanding of tooling, offsets, and fixturing principles
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
- Experience indicating tooling and verifying alignment
- Familiarity with CNC controls and basic G & M code understanding to program
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to quality, safety, and efficiency
- Prior CNC machining experience preferred
