Job Description

We’re looking for Eligibility & Authorization Specialists who are passionate about ensuring smooth, supportive patient experiences across our ambulatory clinics. In this role, you’ll coordinate insurance pre-authorizations, manage eligibility documentation, and serve as a key communication bridge between patients, physicians, and insurers. You’ll help keep care accessible and compliant—especially for patients who face barriers to getting the care they need. Our ideal teammate is proactive, patient-focused, organized, and a strong communicator.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete insurance pre-authorizations and re-authorizations for ambulatory and outpatient services

  • Ensure documentation of eligibility and status is complete, timely, and accessible

  • Communicate efficiently with patients, clinics, insurance companies, and internal staff

  • Support and educate front office staff on evolving health plan requirements

  • Improve Pay for Performance (P4P) and eligibility workflows to support better patient care

  • Provide front desk and registration coverage across ambulatory clinic sites when needed

  • Uphold high standards of patient privacy, dignity, and service excellence

Collaborative Teamwork

This role involves working closely with care teams, front office staff, and insurance providers to ensure a smooth, collaborative workflow that puts patients first.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred

  • At least 3 years of experience in ambulatory medical office insurance or a related field

  • Knowledge of office organization and clerical processes

  • Ability to manage tasks efficiently and independently

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Experience with electronic health information systems (HIS) preferred

  • Hands-Only CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 2 months of hire)

  • Must be able to put into practice Service Excellence skills with patients, families, and coworkers
