(QAI) is a multi-national professional certification body, test laboratory, and inspection agency with offices throughout North America and Asia. We provide services to manufacturers of building products, electrical products, vehicles, and other regulated products. Recognition of the QAI name and logo have grown significantly over the past few years resulting in significant expansion of the business. QAI is currently seeking an experienced Technician II to support the Electrical Product Safety Department at our Burnaby, BC location. This role involves evaluation, testing, report writing and performing inspections on various types of electrical products. You are someone who is very motivated and likes to be hands on and interested in working in a fast-paced product testing laboratory with the ability to read and comprehend test standards and specifications for performing the testing. You have electrical testing experience in the product testing industry and be willing to cross train in other areas of the business. Flexibility in work schedule and working overtime, if needed, is ideal. DUTIES: You will perform, but not be limited to, the following duties:
- Set up and perform electrical safety tests on products and components by following written test procedures and applicable electrical safety standards (CSA, UL, IEC, etc.). Read, interpret, and apply electrical safety standards and resolve technical issues.Liaise with account managers and clients, leading discussions to ensure testing, reporting, and certification meet expectations. Record and document test results for electrical safety tests, including but not limited to leakage current, dielectric strength, creepage and clearance, temperature and rating, and environmental and humidity testing, and assist with preparation of test reports. Maintain lab equipment, perform calibration checks, construct test fixtures, and demonstrate equipment operation. Participate in internal/external audits under mentorship and assist with corrective actions.Manage multiple projects with conflicting timelines while upholding QAI Quality Management Systems, safety, and core values.Other duties as assigned by the manager or his designee
