Position Summary

The Accounting Manager will oversee the day-to-day functions of the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and operational efficiency across accounting processes. This role also oversees payroll administration and controls in ADP to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing. This individual will supervise accounting staff, support budgeting and forecasting activities, and partner cross-functionally to improve controls, reporting accuracy, and financial transparency. 

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, process-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing environment. This role is critical to supporting leadership with accurate financial insights and preparing the organization for continued scale.

Responsibilities

Financial Operations & Reporting

    Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.Prepare and review internal financial statements and dashboards.Ensure timely and accurate completion of AP, AR, fixed assets, and inventory accounting.Maintain the general ledger and ensure all entries, including payroll-related transactions and accruals, are properly recorded.

Payroll Administration & Compliance

    Oversee end-to-end payroll processing in ADP, ensuring accurate and timely payroll for all employees.Review and approve payroll registers, earnings, deductions, bonuses, commissions, and payroll adjustments.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and reporting requirements.Coordinate with HR and management on new hires, terminations, benefits changes, and compensation updates.Manage payroll audits, tax filings, W-2s, and year-end payroll reporting.Maintain payroll documentation, controls, and appropriate segregation of duties.Partner with HR and Finance leadership to ensure payroll aligns with budget and headcount plans.

Compliance & Controls

    Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies.Manage annual financial statement review and tax preparation with external auditors.Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure process integrity.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

    Supervise accounting staff; provide coaching, performance reviews, and development plans.Collaborate with departments such as Supply Chain, Sales, and Operations to ensure accurate cost tracking, margin analysis, and budgeting alignment.Partner with the VP of Finance & Accounting to improve reporting visibility and support strategic initiatives.

Budgeting & Forecasting Support

    Assist in budget development, monthly variance analysis, and forecasting updates.Support financial modeling and scenario planning efforts.

System & Process Improvements

    Identify and implement process improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of accounting operations.Maintain documentation for processes and internal procedures.Support NetSuite, NSPB and Power BI improvements and integration initiatives.

Requirements

    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA, MBA or CMA a plus. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory role.Strong knowledge of US GAAP.Hands-on experience managing payroll systems and payroll compliance (ADP preferred).Experience in a distribution, manufacturing, or inventory-driven environment preferred.Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with NetSuite and Power BI a plus.Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.Ability to work cross-functionally and lead with a solutions-oriented mindset.
