Scale Operator – Role Summary

Shift Schedule:
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and every other Saturday as required
Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM


We are seeking qualified candidates for Scale Operator positions on our B Shift team. This role is responsible for ensuring assigned production lines meet all quality and customer specifications while supporting safe and efficient operations.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong teamwork, effective communication skills, and the ability to provide feedback and direction within the scope of the role.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ensure customer specifications and quality meets 100% WTB standards and perform the following duties. Other duties may be assigned.
  2. Read and understand scheduling/pick lists for each customer
  3. Must weigh, label, and document all specifications according to customer picklist
  4. Provide each customer pick list for the line team to review
  5. Ensure 100% knowledge of WTB AS-400 data system
  6. Identify all production materials. Packaging materials, core tubes, labels, etc.
  7. Ensure lock-out, tag-out locations and proper procedure
  8. Ensure shift production records for every customer order are completed properly and passed to your supervisor at shift closing
  9. Ensure proper materials are available for incoming shift
  10. Understand production requirements for each customer order, and the importance of maintaining a level of 85-100% efficiency.
  11. Ensure knowledge of quality testing for each customer’s requirements
  12. Learn and understand the importance of first grade prime fiber and the revenue impact it has when converted to Regar.
  13. Must provide team communication and organization skills
  14. Maintain a safe and clean work environment

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibility. Requires leadership abilities.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Count, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Attention to details. Able to read and interpret tape measure. Calculate numbers for quality and production reporting.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Strongly prefer 4 years in manufacturing environment operating machine equipment successfully.
  3. Understands Feeds, Speeds, LOTO, etc.
  4. Leadership abilities to work and direct self-directed teams as needed. Basic computer skills with MS Office.
  5. Apply common sense understanding to carrying out instructions that are provided.
  6. Read and comprehend work instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  7. Write simple correspondence.
  8. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups.
  9. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
