Ceded Reinsurance

Incline Insurance Group is seeking an experienced reinsurance professional to serve as Director of Reinsurance within the Ceded Reinsurance function. This role will play a critical part in executing Incline’s ceded reinsurance strategy by owning the majority of treaty renewals and ongoing program placements, while enabling senior leadership to focus on large placements, new programs, corporate reinsurance strategy, and risk appetite.


The Director, Reinsurance will bring deep underwriting and reinsurance expertise, strong market relationships, and a hands-on execution mindset to support Incline’s growing portfolio of property and casualty insurance programs.


About the Ceded Reinsurance Team

Incline’s Ceded Reinsurance team is responsible for structuring, placing, and managing reinsurance programs across Incline’s portfolio of program business. The team partners closely with underwriting, actuarial, finance, and executive leadership to ensure reinsurance placements align with the company’s risk appetite, capital strategy, and growth objectives.


The Director, Reinsurance plays a key role within this team by leading execution on core renewals and ongoing treaty management, providing technical underwriting insight, and serving as a trusted partner to both internal stakeholders and external reinsurance markets.


What You’ll Do

As Director, Reinsurance, you will report to senior reinsurance leadership and serve as a key execution leader within the ceded reinsurance function. You will take ownership of a significant portion of Incline’s renewal workload while contributing underwriting insight, market intelligence, and operational rigor across the reinsurance lifecycle.


Treaty Renewals & Placement Execution: Lead the execution of ceded reinsurance treaty renewals across multiple programs and lines of business.  Manage reinsurance placements from preparation through binding, including data review, underwriting narratives, and market engagement.  Support placement of property and casualty treaties with a focus on maintaining program profitability and capital efficiency.

Underwriting & Risk Evaluation: Apply underwriting judgment to evaluate program risk characteristics, limits, attachments, and coverage structures.  Review treaty language to ensure alignment with underwriting intent, risk transfer objectives, and operational expectations.  Identify areas of concern and provide recommendations related to program risk, structure, and market terms.

Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner closely with underwriting, actuarial, finance, and FINPRO teams to support reinsurance decision-making.  Provide reinsurance input into program renewals, new program evaluations, and underwriting guideline reviews.  Support audits, due diligence, and ongoing performance monitoring of programs and partners.

Market & Relationship Management: Maintain strong relationships with reinsurers, brokers, and market partners.  Provide market intelligence on pricing, capacity, and coverage trends.  Represent Incline professionally in reinsurance discussions and industry engagements.

Operational Oversight & Process Support: Support reinsurance data accuracy, documentation, and entry into internal systems.  Assist in maintaining reinsurance logs, placement documentation, and accounting support materials.  Contribute to process improvements across reinsurance workflows and reporting.

Leadership & Mentorship: Serve as a technical resource and mentor to junior reinsurance or underwriting staff as applicable.  Collaborate with leadership on developing best practices and execution standards within the ceded reinsurance function.


What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a seasoned insurance professional with deep underwriting and reinsurance experience who thrives in a hands-on, execution-focused leadership role.


Experience: 10+ years of experience in insurance underwriting, reinsurance, or related leadership roles.  Proven experience managing ceded reinsurance placements, treaty renewals, or large-limit underwriting referrals.  Background in property and casualty insurance; or specialty lines experience a plus.  Experience in insurance, reinsurance, or other regulated environments strongly preferred.

Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s degree required.  Professional designations such as AFIS, Are, CPCU or similar strongly preferred.

Technical & Industry Expertise: Strong understanding of ceded reinsurance structures, treaty language, and underwriting principles.  Familiarity with insurance and reinsurance management systems and data tools.  Ability to analyze complex risks and translate findings into reinsurance placement decisions.

Core Competencies: Strong underwriting judgment and analytical skills.  Excellent communication and relationship-management skills.  Ability to independently manage complex renewals and competing priorities.  Collaborative mindset with the ability to partner effectively across underwriting, actuarial, finance, and leadership teams.

This role operates within a hybrid work model.  Location in or near Austin, TX preferred, with flexibility for exceptional candidates.
