Lead Barista

The Lead Barista supports daily café operations by setting the standard for beverage quality, customer service, and workflow efficiency. This role works alongside the team to ensure drinks are prepared accurately, the workspace remains organized, and guests receive a welcoming, high-quality experience. The Lead Barista provides guidance and support to baristas during shifts and helps maintain consistency in service and product standards. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare espresso beverages, coffee, and other menu items according to established recipes and quality standards.
• Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting guests, answering questions, and resolving routine concerns.
• Act as the point of support for baristas during shifts by offering guidance on drink preparation, workflow, and service standards.
• Maintain smooth bar flow by coordinating drink production and prioritizing orders during busy periods.
• Monitor product quality, presentation, and consistency throughout the shift.
• Assist with training and coaching baristas on drink preparation, equipment use, and customer service expectations.
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of the café, including bar stations, equipment, and customer areas.
• Monitor inventory levels of coffee, milk, syrups, and supplies during shifts and communicate restocking needs.
• Support opening and closing procedures, including equipment setup, cleaning, and station preparation.
• Maintain proper food safety and sanitation practices.
• Model professionalism, teamwork, and a positive work environment.

Qualifications:

• Previous barista experience required; advanced espresso and drink preparation skills preferred.
• Strong knowledge of coffee preparation, espresso equipment, and café workflows.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to guide and support team members during busy shifts.
• Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced café environment.
