Position Summary:
The Mastectomy Fitter is responsible for providing professional fitting services and consultation to customers requiring mastectomy products, custom compression stockings, and orthotic appliances. This position delivers exceptional customer care while maintaining retail operations standards and supporting overall store functions.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Fitting
- Conduct professional fittings for mastectomy products, custom compression stockings, and orthotic appliances in accordance with certification standards and physician prescriptions
- Provide knowledgeable consultation and education to customers regarding product options, proper use, and care instructions
- Ensure customer privacy, dignity, and comfort throughout the fitting process
- Build and maintain positive customer relationships to promote customer retention and satisfaction
- Assist customers with product selection and purchases across all categories
- Maintain organized and well-stocked fitting rooms and sales floor areas
- Merchandise products according to company standards to maximize presentation and sales
- Perform inventory management tasks including receiving, stocking, and organizing products
- Maintain cleanliness of retail space including dusting and general housekeeping as needed
- Provides clerical support with the daily activities of a DME office including scheduling appointments, providing telephone coverage, working with reps and referral sources to ensure complete documentation is obtained, and interacting daily with scheduled patients and walk-ins
- As needed patient setups in patient's home, office, or clinic where allowed by state regulations.
- Reviews documentation to make sure it is valid prior to processing an order
- Processing new referrals for oxygen patients and following up on orders when patients meet qualifications through oximetry testing
- Complete all orders received via CMB, email, fax, or phone in a timely manner
Administrative & Compliance
- Verify insurance eligibility and coverage for products and services
- Process customer transactions accurately using point-of-sale systems
- Maintain accurate fitting records and customer documentation
- Complete required training and maintain current certifications
Team Collaboration
- Work cooperatively with team members to ensure smooth store operations
- Participate in training activities as assigned
- Communicate effectively with management regarding inventory needs, customer concerns, and operational issues
Additional Responsibilities:
- Must be able to navigate through multiple online EMR systems to obtain applicable documentation.
- Works with insurance verification team to ensure all needs are met for both teams to provide accurate information to the patient and ensure payments.
- Assume on-call responsibilities during non-business hours in accordance with company policy.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and functions within the guidelines of HIPAA.
- Completes assigned compliance training and other education programs as required.
- Maintains compliance with AdaptHealth's Compliance Program.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Current certification as a mastectomy fitter, custom stocking fitter, and orthotic appliance fitter, OR ability to obtain certifications after training
- Related experience in health care administrative, financial, or insurance customer services, claims, billing, call center or management regardless of industry.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Work environment will be stressful at times, as overall office activities and work levels fluctuate
- Must be able to bend, stoop, stretch, stand, and sit for extended periods of time
- Subject to long periods of sitting and exposure to computer screen
- Ability to perform repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and/or fingers due to extensive computer use
- Excellent ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with internal and external customers with the ability to demonstrate empathy, compassion, courtesy, and respect for privacy.
