Job Overview
Seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or other health challenges. This role involves assisting residents with daily activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting independence within a supportive environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in home and community care, assisted living, or long-term care settings, and possess a genuine desire to make a positive impact on people's lives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
  • Provide patient observation to monitor health status and respond appropriately to changes
  • Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations
  • Support residents with meal preparation, feeding, and nutritional needs
  • Assist with mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts while ensuring safety protocols
  • Maintain cleanliness of the living environment through light cleaning duties
  • Monitor vital signs and report any concerns to healthcare professionals
  • Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs
  • Support residents during recreational activities and social engagement to promote mental well-being
  • Follow all safety procedures including CPR and First Aid protocols

Requirements

  • Prior experience in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home health care is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of patient care techniques including medication administration, vital signs monitoring, Alzheimer’s/dementia/memory care, autism support, hospice care, and long-term care practices
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus
  • Ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities or complex health conditions such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease
  • Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and safety oversight
  • Physical ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and assist with mobility using specialized equipment
  • Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills for working with residents and team members
  • Valid driver’s license is preferred for community-based support roles
