About the Job
The Senior Field Digitalisation Officer role strengthens Better Cotton Initiative's digital foundation across global field operations. By designing scalable, secure, and future-ready digital systems, this role ensures high-quality data collection that supports impact measurement for nearly 3 million farmers.
It bridges technology and field operations — translating operational needs into robust technical solutions while building strong training and support systems to drive adoption and data quality. Ultimately, the role enables efficient field processes, reliable decision-making data, and a sustainable digital architecture aligned with Better Cotton’s 2030 goals.
The Challenge
Looking ahead to 2030, we are targeting reducing GHG emissions from cotton production by half, big cuts in synthetic pesticide use, improve soil health across our network, improve farm income and support women’s empowerment among farmers and farm workers.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Field Digitalisation Officer you will be responsible for :
Deliver stable, functional digital field solutions that meet operational requirements. Successfully implement and maintain mobile data collection systems or alternative digital tools as needed. Ensure smooth rollout of digital initiatives within country operations. Provide timely user support and establish a basic, reliable helpdesk mechanism. Deliver effective training to field staff and Programme Partners to ensure tool adoption. Maintain clear documentation of systems, processes, and configurations. Collaborate effectively with ITD, MEL, and Programme teams to align digital tools with data standards and reporting needs. Identify and resolve technical and operational issues proactively. The minimum expectation is that field digital systems are reliable, users are supported, and data collection processes function efficiently and securely across operations. Work collaboratively with line managers to set clear, outcome-based objectives that align with function-wide and organisational goals.Experience

Essential
Strong technical foundation in application development, system configuration, or digital platform implementation (ideally with exposure to full-stack concepts such as frontend, backend, APIs, and databases).Experience translating business or operational needs into technical solutions, demonstrating structured problem-solving skills.Hands-on experience delivering digital projects end-to-end, from requirements gathering through rollout and post-implementation support.Experience with mobile or field data collection systems, and an understanding of how digital tools operate in low-resource or distributed environments.Knowledge of system integration and data flows, including working with APIs, cloud environments (e.g., Azure), and data platforms.Training and capacity-building experience, with the ability to simplify technical concepts for non-technical users.Fluent in English required.A combination of technical depth with adaptability, communication skills, and a strong service mindset with minimum 3 years of working experience.Desirable
Exposure to support or helpdesk processes, including issue tracking and user management.Experience working in cross-functional or multicultural environments, ideally within development, sustainability, or agricultural contextsCloud & Infrastructure Awareness: Familiarity with hosting environments and performance considerations to support secure, scalable, and maintainable systems.Data Governance & Security: Knowledge of access controls, user management, and compliance principles to safeguard sensitive data and ensure policy alignment.What we offer

Working arrangements
The position is full-time (40 hours per week) and will be based in Delhi. Better Cotton Initiative offers flexible working, with core hours being 10 am – 4 pm. The position will require limited travel to international countries.
