Position SummaryThe purpose of this position is to perform a variety of mechanic maintenance on commercial motor vehicles. The primary goal is to ensure trucks and equipment are prepared safely and efficiently. Additional duties include monitoring equipment daily, performing basic cleanings, reset equipment for coming days and complete repairs for continued production. Roles & ResponsibilitiesDetermine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.Keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedulesCorrect vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major parts or systems. Such as: A/C components, Cab and Body components, Gauges, Axles, Brake components, Steering components, Suspension components, Tires, Wheels, Drive train, Clutch, Transmission, Electrical, Charging components, Cranking components, Ignition components, Lighting components, Air Intake components, Cooling components, Exhaust components, Fuel components, Engine components, Vehicle coupling components, and APU’s.Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.Maintain vehicle appearance by documenting missing parts, damages, and uncleanliness.Maintain vehicle records by annually performing services and repairs.Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions and handling with respectContain costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts optionsUpdate job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.Enhance maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.Skills & QualificationsProficient computer skills and ability to use computer programs for diagnosing and programming changes (Insight, Diagnostic link, Bendix, Wabco)Knowledge of Conestoga repairsAbility to weld metal and aluminum Ability to operate a forklift Ability to rebuild dolly legs and doors Ability to replace crossmembers and repair bogies Must be able to perform preventative maintenance and DOT inspections.Education & ExperiencePrefer Associate degree from technical school5 or more years experience in the Diesel Maintenance field Experience with computer software maintenance with Paccar, Davie, Cummins, Wabco, Bendix, Freightliner.
