Summer Internship Program Description:
The Palomar Summer Internship Program provides college students and early career professionals with a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience with exploring a career in the insurance industry. Summer Interns will be exposed to various tasks and responsibilities within multiple departments at Palomar. As a growing Property & Casualty insurance organization, interns will contribute to meaningful assignments and projects that make an impact on Palomar’s growth. The program runs from June 15th to August 14th.
Location: La Jolla, CA (preferred) or Edina, MN
Please note that Palomar is unable to offer relocation assistance.
What we are looking for:
Must be at least 18 years of age and based in the U.S.Recent college graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Analytics, IT, or Business or related experience.Have a passion to grow in a reporting or analytics role.Experience with ExcelExperience in SQL and data manipulation techniques.Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with an ability to interpret data and draw meaningful insights.Effectively and efficiently present logic, reasoning, and analysis to others.Preference of experience with reporting tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.Preference of a basic understanding of data warehousing concepts.Minimum of 8 weeks availability to join the program.Have maintained an exceptional grade point average in college.
Job Responsibilities:
Summer interns will gain experience on multiple projects, such as:Solution Design and Delivery:Assist in creating and modifying reports, dashboards, and data models under the guidance of senior team members.Learn to use reporting tools and platforms to develop solutions that meet business needs.Support the maintenance and organization of reporting assets to ensure they remain accurate and valuable.Data Validation and Quality Assurance:Perform basic data checks to ensure the accuracy and integrity of reports.Collaborate with team members to identify and troubleshoot data issues.Assist in reviewing reports for quality and consistency before they are shared with stakeholders.Process Improvement and Documentation:Contribute to process improvement initiatives by sharing ideas and observations.Help document reporting processes, standards, and definitions for team reference.Stay curious and learn about industry best practices and tools to enhance your knowledge.Collaboration and Learning:Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs and priorities.Participate in team meetings and provide updates on your progress.Build strong working relationships by demonstrating initiative, curiosity, and follow-through.

Collaboration with fellow Palomar Interns and Team MembersHands on experience within the departmentLeadership guidance and career growthExposure to analytical, strategic and tactical responsibilitiesProfessional Development and Workshops weeklyPalomar is a Hybrid work environment which means we will support a blended approach of working remotely and coming into the office on a regular agreed upon cadence. You will be required to be in the office a minimum of 3 days per week.
Internship Project
At the end of the program, all summer interns will present an overview of their Internship Project(s). The final presentation is an opportunity for interns to share their internship experience with fellow interns and the Palomar Leadership Team.

Pay Range: $19.00/hour
The above pay range is for all US-based roles based on function and level, benchmarked against companies of similar size and scope. To be compliant with local legislation as well as provide greater transparency to candidates, we disclose salary ranges on all job postings regardless of the desired job location. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and the opportunity for annual long-term incentive stock grants for full time employees. In addition, we offer a highly competitive benefits package. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and qualifications, and may vary from the amounts listed above
