Primary Objective

Coordinate the material inventory, charge make ups and supplies inventory to ensure the requirements of the melt schedule and efficient usage of materials.

Basic function

Supervise and coordinate the activities and personnel associated with the charge make up and processing of VIM products.  Including getting scrap ready to charge into the VIM.  Organize any out processing needed to prepare scrap for use. Owning the accuracy of raw material quantities in MAP

 

Responsibilities

  • Make up least cost charges for heats utilizing computer modeling.
  • Direct efforts of the Scrap Yard employee.
  • Implement trials and take the lead on coordinating those efforts.
  • Identify raw material order needs for each campaign to meet production requirements while minimizing inventory.
  • Responsible for receipt of raw materials both quality and quantity.
  • Order raw materials necessary to meet production requirements and coordinate with corporate purchasing.
  • Responsible for accuracy of month-end quantities in the raw material inventory system and coordination of recordkeeping with the Plant Accountant.
  • Monitor performance of operating supplies and inventory.
  • Handle scrap segregation/organization for the plant.
  • Control operating supply inventories that get done monthly.
  • Assist in the development, establishment, and monitoring of Safety Rules and Regulations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Audit and ensure charge building process in VIM

  • Direct efforts of hourly personnel

Experience/Education

  • BS in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • Materials/Science/Metallurgy degree desirable
