Position Summary: Teaching faculty
Responsibilities/Accountability:

- Directs learning activities by: ensuring that course learning outcomes objectives and content are written and outlined to reflect the philosophy, organizing framework, and level objectives; utilizing varied teaching strategies; assisting students to apply the organizing framework to nursing practice; assisting students to apply nursing theories and principles to nursing practice; reviewing audio-visuals and literary resources for use in the educational program; conducting formal classes and supervising clinical experiences as assigned; assisting in the preparation and implementation of classroom and clinical schedules; evaluating effectiveness of own-instruction; using knowledge gained from student and peer evaluations in planning of subsequent learning experiences; Submits course reports and roll books and other student progression documents at the end of the semester; and fulfilling University faculty responsibilities; adheres to the bylaws for the College of Nursing.
- Delivers content to meet the objectives of the specific levels by: principles of learning; arranging for the preparation of class and/or practicum schedules and their dissemination; attending annual agency meeting with faculty to negotiate clinical request; evaluating educational resources; designing and/or revising methods and tools for evaluation that are consistent with teaching strategies and objectives; evaluating effectiveness if instruction based on students' achievement of objectives; maintaining a record of students' grades; teaching in classroom and clinical area as indicated.
- In the event of team teaching the full-time faculty member serves as the lead. Adheres to the bylaws for the College of Nursing; Performs related duties as assigned.
- If a faculty member serves as the course lead, the lead faculty assumes and fulfills administrative responsibilities commensurate with the position by assuring that level competencies, and course content remain compatible with the philosophy, organizing framework and objectives of the nursing program; providing for continuous evaluation of courses to determine if objectives are met; interpreting the philosophy, objectives, and policies of the College of Nursing to faculty and students: Coordinating activities with other levels in the College and affiliating agencies; assisting in the identification of faculty and student needs assisting in the recruitment, screening and selection of faculty; provide formal peer evaluation and support to colleagues teaching within the course or related clinical. Formal-peer evaluations are to be forwarded to the respective nursing level coordinator. Recognizing and informing the Coordinator for Post Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Studies of existing or potential student-faculty problems; conducting course-clinical meetings, respectively; Syllabi development/ revision for both lecture and clinical courses.
Qualifications
RN with a master’s degree. Must possess an unencumbered Louisiana RN license required. Prior online
teaching preferred.
Work Conditions
Will be required to engage with students via Canvas. Required to teach in person three time per semester.
Other:
Will be required to complete the University’s online learning management system training within 30 days of hire.
