A Step Up Career Academy Center is seeking 2 qualified Floater/Teacher Assistants for our daycare facility. Candidates will be working with the ages of 6 weeks old to 12 years old. Candidates must have at least 1 year of work experience in a daycare center.

****THESE ARE PERMANENT POSITIONS WITH FULL-TIME WORK HOURS**** The available shifts for these positions would be 7:30 am - 4:30 pm and 9:30 am - 6:30 pm.****

Please read the qualifications below:
  • - Candidate will be floating from classrooms to provide coverage when a teacher is absent or has planned vacation days.
  • - Candidate will also assist the classrooms that only have 1 teacher.
  • - Candidate should have experience working with children from 6 weeks to 12 years old.
  • -Candidate will be fully trained in all 7 classrooms.
  • - Candidate should have experience nurturing children and excellent communication skills with parents.
  • -Candidate must be able to interact with different age groups.
  • -Candidate must be able to change diapers and potty train.
  • - Candidate must be a sensitive and mature individual who is able to relate well to both children and adults.
  • - Candidate must be able to adapt to change.
  • - Candidate must be able to meet DCFS requirements.
  • - Candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • DCFS REQUIRED TRAINING: Mandated Reporter, SIDS, Shaken Baby, Trauma Informed Care, Child Development, Health and Safety Basics & Food Handler.
  • -Floater Teacher must have at least 33 college credit hours with six credits (2 classes) in early childhood education or child development.

  • NAEYC Accredited

Responsibilities

  • Assist lead teachers in managing classroom activities and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Support children’s development through engaging in educational activities and play.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to foster a collaborative atmosphere.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children, adhering to SIDS Certification guidelines.
  • Help implement lesson plans and assist with curriculum development as needed.
  • Provide care and support for children with diverse needs, including those with disabilities.
