Residential Building - Common Area Cleaner

Position Summary

The Common Area Cleaner at Elite Healthcare Service is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of all shared spaces within a residential building. This position helps ensure a clean, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for residents and visitors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Cleaning & Sanitation

• Clean and maintain common areas including lobbies, hallways, stairwells, elevators, laundry rooms, community rooms, and restrooms (if applicable)
   
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces on a routine schedule
   
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles and replace liners
   
• Clean doors, glass, mirrors, handrails, baseboards, and light fixtures as assigned
   
• Spot-clean spills and respond promptly to cleanliness or safety concerns
   

Floor & Surface Care

• Maintain hard surface and carpeted floors through routine cleaning
   
• Report floor damage, hazards, or safety concerns to supervisor
   
• Use appropriate safety signage for wet or recently cleaned floors
   

Supplies & Equipment

• Properly use, store, and handle cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment
   
• Monitor supply levels and notify supervisor when restocking is needed
   
• Clean and store equipment at the end of each shift
   

Safety & Professional Conduct

• Follow all safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, and building policies
   
• Interact courteously and professionally with residents, visitors, and staff
   
• Respect resident privacy and maintain confidentiality
   

Additional Responsibilities

• Perform light cleaning and detail work as assigned
   
• Report maintenance issues such as leaks, broken fixtures, or lighting problems
   
• Complete other duties as assigned by management

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
   
• Previous cleaning or janitorial experience in residential or commercial settings is a plus
   

Skills & Abilities

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
   
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills
   
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
   

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
   
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
   
• Ability to work with cleaning chemicals and equipment
   

Work Schedule

• Monday – Friday
   
• 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
   

Work Environment

• Residential apartment or condominium building
   
• Indoor environment with regular resident interaction
