Job Description:

The Community Engagement & Program Support Intern plays a key role in supporting outreach, engagement, and program-related activities across Alternatives For Girls. This internship provides hands-on experience in nonprofit operations with a flexible hybrid schedule. Interns support communications, outreach, administrative tasks, and mission-driven engagement efforts.

Responsibilities Include:

- Assist with program activities, outreach initiatives, and event planning.
 - Create and curate content for social media and community communications.
 - Support data entry, research, and tracking of program outcomes.
 - Engage with volunteers and community partners.
 - Participate in staff meetings and contribute ideas.
 - Assist with administrative and operational tasks.
 - Help coordinate virtual and in-person engagement opportunities.
 - Represent AFG at community events when appropriate.
 - Maintain confidentiality and follow agency policies.

Demonstrated Abilities:

- Strong communication skills.
 - Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
 - Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
 - Comfort using digital tools for remote work.
 - Creativity, initiative, and willingness to learn.

Acquired Knowledge / Qualifications:

- Interest in community engagement, social services, or nonprofit work.
 - Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital platforms.
 - Strong verbal and written communication skills.
 - Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
 - Enrollment in or completion of a related degree (preferred but not required).
 - Commitment to AFG’s mission and trauma-informed approach.

 - Duration: 3–6 months
 - Location: Detroit, MI — Hybrid schedule
 - Compensation: Unpaid; includes mentorship and professional development
