Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Lab Assistant to support research and development activities in an advanced manufacturing laboratory for a 2 year long project. The ideal candidate will assist with experimental setups, operate specialized equipment, maintain lab resources, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. This role is vital to enabling innovation, efficiency, and reliability in our research environment.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist research staff and engineers in preparing, conducting, and documenting experiments.

· Operate and maintain advanced manufacturing equipment (e.g., additive manufacturing systems, CNC machines, robotics, automation platforms).

· Prepare materials, chemicals, and tooling necessary for experiments and fabrication processes.

· Perform basic data collection, recording, and preliminary analysis of test results.

· Support the design, assembly, and calibration of experimental apparatus and test fixtures.

· Monitor laboratory inventory, order supplies, and maintain organization of materials and tools.

· Conduct equipment inspections and routine preventive maintenance.

· Follow established protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality assurance guidelines.

· Adhere to environmental health and safety regulations in all lab operations.

· Contribute to continuous improvement of lab processes, workflows, and documentation.

Requirements

· U.S. Citizenship required.

· Bachelor’s degree (or active pursuit of) in engineering, manufacturing, materials science, applied sciences, or a related technical field; or equivalent technical training/experience.

· Prior laboratory, manufacturing, or technical shop experience (academic or professional).

· Familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies such as 3D printing, CNC machining, robotics, or automation.

· Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or materials testing principles.

· Familiarity in basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office, data entry, digital lab notebooks).

· Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks.

· Effective written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

· Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced R&D setting
