Material Handler

Job Summary

Custom Engineering Company is currently seeking an experienced material handler. This position is responsible for loading and unloading material, dispositioning material, supplying all plants with parts and materials and ensuring that material is properly marked. The material handler is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the forklift vehicle. Hourly Rate: $20.00 - $22.00 / hr

• Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site, performing any combination of following duties: Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
• Safely and efficiently load and unload materials onto semi-trailer trucks and flatbeds, securing all outgoing loads in appropriate and safe stacking methods. 
• Follow and understand work procedures and be aware of the location of all proper procedures.
• Ensures staging areas, loading docks and bays are clear of any materials or obstacles. 
• Receives and organizes all incoming materials in an efficient manner. Completing all verification paperwork and material distribution to the appropriate storage locations/areas within the same business day. 
• Open communication with all levels regarding location challenges, solutions and business impacts.  Develop and maintain excellent customer service to internal and external customers at all times.
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.  Notify supervisor of machine and operating difficulties.
• Perform other duties as required, assigned, or directed.

• Two or more years of related experience as a material handler or forklift driver.
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
• Good oral and written communication skills are essential.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment.
• Knowledge and understanding of standard shop safety practices.
