Physicians Billing Financial Coordinator

POSITION PURPOSE
-
The Financial Coordinator oversees the Physicians Billing patient balances and collection activities outlined in the hospital’s policy and procedure manual. Works directly with the extended business office and collection agency to ensure proper procedures are followed. Assists Physicians Billing staff with patient balance concerns and questions.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED

High School plus specialized training (6 months-2 yrs)

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Two years education or training beyond high school preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED

Minimum of one-year previous experience with billing procedures/claim processing required, preferably in a clinic setting.

Previous management experience preferred.

Ability to read, write, speak, hear and comprehend the English language.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Communicates and develops a working/problem solving relationship with coworkers, clinic staff and insurance companies.

Utilizes telephone skills to allow for courteous and professional contact with patients, insurance companies and clinic staff. Ability to train others in this area.

Ability to work directly with collection agency staff to assist with inquiries, disputes and to resolve outstanding issues.

Ability to work directly with extended business office staff to assist with inquiries, disputes and to resolve outstanding issues.

Ability to communicate all aspects of the collection process to coworkers, clinic staff and patients.

Assists billing staff with billing and/or software questions.
-
Must be capable of dealing effectively with all levels of management, supervisory and non-supervisory personnel.
